I value your opinion here but don’t agree at all. I love the us but your president is as dement as the one before him, surrounded by yes men (cabinet meetings resembling North Korean ones) sleep walking into a conflict that is deeply unpopular (wasn’t trump running on stopping the forever wars in the mid-east?) which he cannot control anymore. Then crying for allies to help to get him out of this mess (after the fact and 1 month after threatening them to annex part of their country). No 3-d chess and only losers besides Russia and Israel
I value your opinion here but don’t agree at all. If the president is as demented as the one before, US would continue to portray themselves as the nice guys and continue to print money to sustain the debt that everyone is crying about (US exporting inflation..). The system that US had been running for decades had reached a point where it isn’t just cracking, it is collapsing under its own weight. Most countries saw it and understood what they were looking at. An empire collapsing just like any other empire in history. And they all made bets on it. BIG BETS. US is expected to roll over and die (at least play dead). Hand over their super power status to the next in line, China or at least that’s what was projected until a certain “demented”president took over, refused to play by the script and decided to MAGA. What you are witnessing is not a “demented” old man, you are looking at someone who refused to play Mr Nice Guy to the rest of the world and decided to expose the hypocrisy through his own methods. So now, we know how the Europeans “allies” really think about “US”. How about how incompetent the setup is for UN? At the end of the day, it’s a zero sum game. Someone gotta lose in order for another to gain and in this case, “demented” president simply had enough of it all.
It would’ve greatly helped the argument for the US over the last 20+ years if you guys dropped the white knight of the world bs. I fully support Trump’s moves against China and I agree current European leadership are a bunch of shortsighted retards at best and paid off traitors at worst. But this idea that the US did things like the Marshall Plan out of the goodness of your heart and because it just wants everyone to be free doesn’t really fly after you lose interest in crayons
A good write up! I agree with most of it but not all of course. Some comments:
I would remind Alexander that the USA permitted its manufacturing industry to be hollowed out, mostly by China. It could have retaliated when it was obvious what the Chinese were doing, but chose not to because it offered fantastic profits for the Leaders of Industry. It also promoted financialization of the economy and its leaders refused to speak out against it or at least rein it in. We all know the results of that. Debt became the new God and now we have plenty of that to go around.
The principal EU nations have been underpaying paying for their defensive share for over 30 years now. The UK used to pay its fair share but that also fell continuously post Margret Thatcher and the UK armed forces, at all levels have spectacularly collapsed into a token force. Only the number of Admirals and Vice Admirals in the British Navy is anywhere close to matching 1980 levels compered with the number of warships. Note that the 2 expensive new British Aircraft Carriers are in again for repairs and don't actually have the surface warship numbers required to put even one of the carriers to sea in a task Force at the moment. The USA SHOULD have exerted far more pressure for Europe to "man up" on defense spending 20 years ago and did not. The Leftist (& Green) cabals successfully transferred Defense Spending from the military to Socialized Spending Programs (just look at what France spends on its public pensions system).
The Ukraine war was effectively started by the West. They thought they could get one over on Putin and perhaps even cause regime change in Russia. Unfortunately that didn't go as planned and all this war has resulted in is a more powerful Russian military and by all accounts a head start for Russian weapon systems to demonstrate their prowess against our own so called world beating weapons systems. The result has been horrendous for Ukraine and all the anti Russian bluster from the UK and the EU in particular has been pointless and explained what the phrase "Paper Tiger" actually refers to. Add to this that Western stocks of smart missiles are also collapsing and I have to ask.... if China decides to invade Taiwan or Russia decide to attack beyond the borders of Ukraine, ... how exactly are we going to stop them? I presume most readers know that only nuclear weapons will be left to offer resistance.
Anyway, the whole point here is that the USA (and its western allies) totally made this bed for itself. Its now standing exhausted, almost naked in front of the rumpled and body fluid stained sheets and trying to decide if it should lay down.......
It’s hard to be sympathetic when the US is the richest and most powerful nation in the world. Of course, we sold out the middle class in the process, but that was entirely optional. The ruling class didn’t HAVE to direct the wealth created by Pax Americana towards a handful of billionaires, but here we are. So when you call Europe “free riders”, after theyve enthusiastically ceded all tech innovation to the US, happy to remain docile customers of the Mag 7 .. idk, it doesn’t feel right. And anyway, I’m not sure entering into frivolous chaotic conflicts without clear war goals was ever part of the security guarantee. At least, that’s what I would have learned after Iraq.
The least persuasive piece is the idea that this Iranian conflict was inevitable. We had a nuclear deal. Trump tore it up. And now, Iran has learned the lesson that they NEED their nukes. So what have we really accomplished?

Interesting thoughts…🤔👍
